Welcome to 6th Grade Social Studies!
Let’s get ready to travel the Western Hemisphere! We will be learning about the physical features, climate, culture, and history of the countries found in North and South America.
Sixth grade social studies is divided into three sections. The first part will be an introduction to geography including the vocabulary used, the themes of geography and our environment. This part of the class will give us the background that we will need to learn about the United States and Canada and Latin America. The second part of our year we will learn about the different regions of the United States and Canada and what makes them special. We will also learn historical and current information about the countries and their people. We will end the year by learning about Latin America. Latin America includes Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean, and South America. As we did with the United States and Canada, we will focus on the geography, history and cultures of these countries.
We will do a variety of activities in class. The majority of our work will be completed in class although you will have homework occasionally. Make sure you turn in all of your work ON TIME!!!
I look forward to an exciting year! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at 715-537-5641 Ext. 524 or email me at millerd@barron.k12.wi.us.
