Election Day: Tuesday, April 6, 2021
Polling Hours: 7:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Happening Now: Absentee and Early In-Person Voting
Absentee Voting: All voters in Wisconsin can request an absentee ballot to be mailed to them for any reason. Voters must be registered before they can request an absentee ballot. To request an absentee ballot visit myvote.wi.gov (link). You must provide a photo ID with your absentee ballot request.
- April 1: deadline to request absentee ballot
- April 6 @ 8 p.m. deadline to return absentee ballot (by mail or delivery to municipal clerk)
In-Person Absentee Voting: Voters can request and vote via absentee ballot in-person at their municipal clerk’s office starting March 23. Office hours vary by municipality, some municipal offices may not offer additional in-person absentee hours. Please contact your municipal clerk for available options.
Referendum Information
For more than a year, the District has been working to develop a comprehensive long-range facility plan that ensures our classrooms and support areas meet the needs of our students and community, both today and for years to come. Background information for our facility planning process can be found here.
The District was committed to finding a solution that reflects the priorities of the taxpayers and meets the needs of our district. To do this, a Focus Group, comprised of staff, parents and community members was formed to identify needs and explore solutions. In October, all District residents had the opportunity to provide feedback through a community-wide survey. Results of the survey can be found here. All community feedback was instrumental in shaping the referendum plan that the Board of Education unanimously supported at their January 18, 2021 meeting.
As always, we want to ensure that all students reach their dreams while making a positive impact on the world. We are excited to share that on April 6, 2021 voters in our community will have the opportunity to vote on two referendum questions. Designed to address needs throughout our district and provide greater student opportunities, that will positively impact our schools and communities for future generations.

Shall the Barron Area School District, Barron and Dunn Counties, Wisconsin be authorized to issue pursuant to Chapter 67 of the Wisconsin Statutes, general obligation bonds in an amount not to exceed $24,500,000 for the public purpose of paying the cost of a district-wide school facility improvement project consisting of: capital maintenance, safety, security and site improvements; classroom and extra-curricular learning space updates, including construction of additions at the High School and Woodland Elementary School; and acquisition of furnishings, fixtures and equipment?
