In our ESL program we provide a variety of cultural experiences to educate students about American culture. Every summer I grow pumpkins in my garden to use to help us celebrate participate in Halloween traditions. We learn about the history of Halloween, carve pumpkins, and have a party which includes costumes, treats and games. Every winter we learn about having fun outside in the snow. We go sledding down the hill by school and then we warm up with hot chocolate. Then students share their culture with the staff by preparing a feast of traditional cooking from their country. Finally to celebrate the end of the school year and students graduating, we have an annual party at Mrs. Frandsen's house.
