Barron Boys Soccer Team Makes State Apppearance
Coach Jeff Rousselow named Coach of the Year!
The Boys Soccer Team had its first state appearance this season. They defeated Washburn-Bayfield 4-0 in the opening round, #1 seed Chippewa Falls-McDonell Eau Claire Regis 1-0 in overtime at Chippewa Falls, and #3 seed Cumberland 2-0 at Cumberland. In the sectional finals, the Golden Bears beat previously undefeated (24-0) Stevens Point Pacelli 2-1 in overtime. In Milwaukee against The Prairie School from Racine, the boys went toe to toe with a school that has been to the state tournament six times since 2000. The score was tied at halftime. The final score was 2-0 Prairie. The boys ended the season with an overall record of 12-8-2.
Barron coach Jeff Rousselow was named small public school coach of the year by the Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association. Rousselow led the Golden Bears to their first WIAA boys soccer state tournament appearance and the first appearance at state by a Middle Border conference school.
