Welcome to Riverview Middle School Fifth Grade!

My name is Dwayne Mettner and I am a 5th Grade Teacher at Riverview Middle School.  I grew up just south of Duluth in Cloquet, Minnesota.  I attended the University of Wisconsin-Superior and received a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education and Pre-Kindergarten through Grade Six Regular Education.

My wife Katie is an Author for Harlequin Books.  We have three amazing grown children...Our daughter Emily is a Supply Chain Manager, our middle son Edward is a Funeral Director, and our youngest son Elias is Physicist Graduate Student. We currently live in Rice Lake.  We love spending time together as a family, enjoying the outdoors, and spending time near the shores of Lake Superior.

I have 30 years of teaching experience, and have spent the last 28 years with the Barron Area School District as a 5th Grade Teacher.  I spent the first 11 years at Ridgeland-Dallas Elementary School until the 5th grade classes moved to Riverview in 2008.

Riverview Middle School is a phenomenal school that offers many unique opportunities for the students.  It is a wonderful school to be a part of.
